Givingli

This week’s startup, Givingli, is taking an old-school way of sending thanks (greeting cards) and transforming it into a more customizable and user-friendly medium.

⚾ The Elevator Pitch:

Ask yourself, how often do you receive a friendly handwritten note? Probably not that often. But, writing our personal feelings, appreciation, or simple jokes can show the receiver you really care. Sure, there are tons of new ways to write notes for others, but it doesn’t showcase the emotions and care attached with a hand-written card.

Givingli, an LA-based startup is aimed to challenge how the greeting card industry works. Givingli is the mother of greeting cards. It allows you to choose from hundreds of hand-illustrated designs, created by independent artists. You can customized literally everything on the card, from stickers, to videos, to words. You can even attach gift cards to them - and they’re sustainable.

🔍 Why we like it

  1. 🫂 Deeper connections
For a generation of digital users, it’s not surprising to like someone’s picture in seconds, shoot a quick text or call from our phones - there are predominant ways to connect with someone. What Givingli offers is to deepen these connections with personalization and interactive tools. Whether it’s about sending a birthday card with a custom video or a Christmas letter with great graphics – It shows appreciation that the “sender” actually cares about you.
  2. 😊 Good traction
Since its launch, the Givingli app has had more than 10,000 ratings on App Store. The couple is committed to introducing their business to grains, allowing them to connect with their loved ones on time. The startup has raised a $3 million seed round which by the couple “will surely help” to explore new possibilities in the future. Last fall, they partnered with Snapchat to debut their app via Snap Mini app integration. The rollout received a lot of praise and since then has attracted more than 5 million people.
  3. 🌴 Sustainable
Givingli is on a mission to promote sustainable products without compromising the resources of future generations. Estimated, 2.5M trees are cut down each year for birthday/greeting cards in the U.S, that’s 750 Million lbs of waste we’re leaving for our future generation. We surely love our greeting cards, but we love our planet too!
